Dear Yuletide Writer,

I am so excited to be participating for the first time this year! So many of my friends do this, so I finally got around to signing up! I thank you in advance for your creativity and awesomeness.

General Likes and Dislikes

I enjoy canon compliant stories, AUs (stories that diverge from a specific moment that change canon from that point on, and stories set in different time periods or locations), future fic, general and shippy stories, UST, angst with some form of resolution (even if it’s not a happy ending), character driven stories, really anything with some form of character development. I like holiday stories, crossovers (within verses that make sense--like agents from one series crossing over into another series with agents), and post-apocalyptic stories.

I love humor, witty banter, and prompts that provide a setting but don’t dictate too much. For example, going furniture shopping, a holiday gift exchange, a girls’ night in (or out). If you feel like you really want more direction, I can give that, but I really want you to feel like you can do anything! I've participated in a lot of exchanges and I can't think of anything that I didn't thoroughly enjoy.

I don’t really have any kinks, and would prefer a strong story over sex. (There’s a time and a place for PWP, but I don’t think that’s what I’d like for my yuletide!) I don't generally read slash stories, but depending on which fandom you choose, there could be exceptions.

I don’t really want to read any gender-bending stories, and I really don’t like stories about weddings or babies. I don’t like romance that is over the top fluffy or out of character. I think that’s why I tend to hate wedding or baby fics. I also don’t like the theme of love being destiny or finding “the one” in fan fiction. (I am a het reader, but I don't want anything too heteronormative.)

Where you can find me

I am active on LJ, though my personal journal is pretty locked. I do have a fic comm for all my stories. It’s very multi-fandom. I used to be in a singular fandom when I first joined LJ, but then my tastes just kind of grew and now I dabble in a lot. I don’t write a ton of fic anymore, but I do try to particpate in challenges and stuff when I can. I’m also on tumblr if you want to see what I’m watching. It’s all tv gifs!

Fandom Specifics

Friday Night Lights: I came to this fandom super late, like after it got canceled! But I was so sad to discover the lack of fic for this fandom. A gen story with all the amazing ladies would be great. Tami, Julie, Tyra, Mindy, Lyla are so smart and fierce. I loved those surprising scenes where Tyra and Julie bonded, where Tami was a mother figure to Tyra, when Tyra and Lyla realized they didn’t hate each other, and Mindy in general being the stripper with the heart of gold.

Landry/Tyra are my guilty pleasure. I know they’re not a fandom favorite, but I love them. I don’t even hate the entire “Landry killed a guy and Tyra told him to dump the body,” storyline. I’d love a story that’s about them meeting up again years later and outside of Texas. Tyra is so interesting to me, and it’s shocking how much I grew to love her. I hated her in the pilot! Landry is just awesome. He’s a good guy, such a great friend, and I have a soft spot for him because he’s a nerd with a sense of humor.

I like Matt/Julie, but if you want to write a shippy story about them then I would prefer it to be set in high school. Matt’s entire story arc, especially with his family, just breaks my heart. I think it would be nice to explore more about his character. I didn’t love how pouty Julie always came across, but I think her best moments are when she realizes how lucky she is to have a family.

I really do like all the characters in this show, even the Vince and Luke era. So definitely feel free to bring anyone else into the story if it makes sense.

Dollhouse: I love Anthony (Victor) and Priya (Sierra). I like them in their active doll state and how they are always drawn to each other. I also like the concept that they could have met in the real world under different circumstances. For example, if they met while Anthony was on leave from the military and got married, Priya might not have been selling her art on the street, and neither of them would have ended up in the Dollhouse.

I also enjoy other characters in that fandom, especially Mellie (November), Paul Ballard, Topher, Adelle, and Claire. I don’t like Echo. I like her when she’s their friend as dolls, but I don’t like her active doll state and personalities. I feel like there is so much that can be done with these characters. Don’t be afraid to just go wild!

Hart of Dixie: This show is so lighthearted and fun! I would enjoy reading a gen story with all the characters interacting. I particularly would like Zoe and Lemon to be friends. If you want to write something shippy, I like Lavon/Lemon and Wade/Zoe. I like all the characters on this show (even George), so feel free to have the whole town join in the fun.

Boardwalk Empire: This is the darkest out of all my picks. I absolutely adore Richard Harrow. I am fascinated by him and would love to read an introspective piece. I think his crush on Angela Darmody was so sweet, and something about him avenging her death broke my heart. I do think there were some shippy overtones with Richard and Jimmy. I think they genuinely loved each other. I also liked Richard’s interactions with Margaret, and wouldn’t mind them in a story together. I also am curious to see where this new girl, Julia, fits in. Chalky White is another character that doesn't get enough screen time. It might be interesting to see how he would interact with Richard.

To sum this all up, I'm really excited to read about what any of these characters have been up to in the world you end up creating!

Thank you!!!!!!!! Let's high-5!

I actually think it's going to work out well! There are two fandoms I know really well (one I offered for, and the other is just a coincidence). I think I might write one that I know I can do (the one I offered), and then write the other as a treat if I can :)

P.S. I totally copied your letter!

Hee! No wonder I liked it so much. ;) I sort of copied mine from various places, really. And from figuring out which letters have worked for me as a writer.

And YAY! That actually happened to me this year, too, though I think I'll probably just be writing what I matched on.

I hope my person finds it helpful! I've done a lot of exchanges and I've been lucky in the past, so it's hard to really think about what I want to convey.

Yeah, and every writer is different, so that makes is hard, too!
