Dear Yuletide Writer,

I am so excited to be participating again! I consider myself easy to please and I hope you have FUN writing whatever inspires you. Some sections of this letter are longer than others, but please don’t be discouraged if that’s not something we matched on. I will be really happy with any of these fandoms on Yuletide morning!!!!

General Likes and Dislikes

I enjoy canon compliant stories, AUs (go wild if you have a great idea!), future fic, gen and shippy stories, UST, character driven stories, really anything with some form of character development. I love strong and sensitive women and men, snappy and sexy banter, and endings that give you a sense of resolution or hopefulness even if it’s not a happily ever after. Some of my requested fandoms do not have a happy ending in canon, but in that case I want to see what happens next, and perhaps we can get to a happier ending. When I read gift fics I don’t usually want TOO much angst, but obviously some of these fandoms or characters require it because it’s part of the narrative, but I trust you to use your judgement.

I would prefer a strong story over PWP. However, I do ship some of these characters A LOT and am all for a sexy story or porn with plot. I read and write het and slash. What I need more than anything is for things to sizzle. I like pining a lot. Give me heated glances, and details about a character that only someone totally crazy about them would like or notice. I don’t have any kink requests, and don’t find them necessary for this sign-up.

I don’t want to read a fic that focuses on the supernatural or magical, gender-bending or body swapping, mpreg, incest, weddings, or babies, unless my request calls for it in detail. I think the discussion of getting married or having kids could come up in some of these requested fandoms and that would be totally natural, but I wouldn’t like a fic that takes place on someone’s wedding day, or a character is pregnant or giving birth, or is about them being parents. I am not against these types of stories and have read and written those storylines, I just don’t want that for Yuletide.

I like slice of life type stories, something that picks up after the series or work ends. I get a thrill from things like interviews (which could work for many of these fandoms), social media, text messages, or epistolary fics. I think these devices have an interesting way of moving the story along, keep dialogue quick, and give a ton of insight we can’t always get from a plain narrative. Don’t feel like you need to go this route to please me. Do what feels good and fun for you!

Fandom Specifics

Ted Lasso
(Keeley Jones, Roy Kent)

This show remains my current obsession. Yes, the second season deals more with character development and some people don’t see it as the ray of sunshine it was for them in 2020, however, I feel like the reasons I love this show are far more nuanced. These characters are adults learning to be actual, fully realized grown-ups. They have wants and needs and hopes and desires, and we are just learning the extent of what the specifics are as the show progresses.

My preference is for a shippy Roy/Keeley fic, but please feel free to add any other characters into the mix. I enjoy their dynamic with Phoebe. I thoroughly loved Roy and Keeley going on a double date with Rebecca and what’s his face. I love the whole team. I’d love anything you could come up with and will be very pleased with some romance.

Some ideas…
• How did Keeley and Roy first meet? I have the impression that they’ve run in the same circles for years. Keeley had Roy’s number in her phone. How?
• A missing scene from Sexy Christmas!
• Keeley obviously knows Roy’s sister if she’s allowed to spend so much time with Phoebe, and I assume she’s met his family. Tell me how they meet, what does she think of them? What’s it like when Roy meets Keeley’s family?

One Last Stop - Casey McQuiston
(Jane Su, August Landry)

This book was a lot of fun and I’m here for more of Jane adapting to the present day and off that damn train. I just love the idea of knowing a bit more about their lives moving forward. I think August has a lot to learn about life and relationships, and Jane may have a lot of trauma dealing with the time she’s lost. I’d like an exploration of how they navigate everything. Any housemate inclusion is a bonus! Obviously, this is very much a supernatural kind of story, so that is fine if your writing includes an exploration of that. I am not the type to get hung up on the timey-wimey sci-fi aspect, and I won’t try to poke holes in any theories you have.

Some ideas…
• I think a road trip fic would be awesome. I want to know how or if they get Jane back to San Francisco.
• I want to hear the conversation between August and her mom about Jane and who she is and her connection to Auggie.
• Case!Fic! What other cool things does August uncover after her introduction to seances and time jumping?
• What role does Jane play in August’s new business? Or does she go do her own thing? What does Jane do? Tell me!

The Idea of You - Robinne Lee
(Solène Marchand, Hayes Campbell)

I requested this last year too, so here’s a bit of a copy and paste with some updates. This book gutted me, just as all the reviews told me it would. I knew there wasn’t going to be a happy ending, which I know is really hard for some people. But...celebrity romances in real life are often very dramatic and rarely work. We only see what’s in the media, and we speculate and project endlessly. Even when a celebrity couple has broken up, we’re still looking for clues about their relationship years after it’s over.

I was prepared for Solène to end things with Hayes to preserve the relationship with her daughter. When I read this book, it was clear to me that Solène has an older child that is becoming more independent, that she has a really amazing career, and an ex-husband who is semi-around to take care of their daughter half of the time. I could see how she could get caught up in a whirlwind romance and forget what’s at stake. I could also see it exploding and destroying her life like it did. I can also see that this is an issue of timing and that maybe, given different circumstances, Solène and Hayes could be together. What would those circumstances look like? Is Hayes older and less popular with the pre-teens? Is Solène’s relationship with her daughter stronger and Isabelle is supportive of her mother finding happiness in any form? Do Solène and Hayes have an undeniable gravitational pull and they just continue to orbit in and out of each other’s lives?

Some ideas…
• Five times Solène and Hayes run into each other coincidentally, and one time totally on purpose.
• Hayes gives an interview and talks about his love affair with Solène (directly or indirectly) and lets it be known that he still carries a torch for her.
• Solène’s profile in the art dealer world increases, her career is on an excellent trajectory, her daughter is happy and healthy, how does she get back into the dating scene?

Starstruck
(Jessie, Tom)

This was a fun little series and I think it’s so ripe for further expansion. I’d love it if you wanted to fall even more into the romance trope territory. I love a celebrity AU, and this is actual canon. Let’s delve more into how famous Tom is, because it’s a little unclear. What does Jessie want in life? How are those two things maybe incompatible or not a problem at all? How does Tom answer the question about who his girlfriend is? What does Jessie do when she decides not to go home to New Zealand? Does she do the thing she has always wanted to do? I feel like Jessie wants something big, but has not allowed herself to go for it. Does her relationship with Tom give her the boost she needs to try? I just want to spend a little more time with these characters.

Some ideas…
• Jessie is a writer and publishes a novel or finishes her screenplay she’s been talking about for years.
• Jessie becomes a viral comedy sensation, and then she blows everyone’s mind when Tom shows up on social media with her.
• What happens when Tom and Jessie are photographed together and people find out about their relationship? Are they awful to Jessie or is everyone kind of impressed with Tom for having a normal girlfriend. What does he say about her in his important, sexy magazine interview and photo spread?

Mad Men
(Peggy Olson, Stan Rizzo)

My forever faves. This is a pairing I come back to and just ponder. Stan, to me, represents safety. Not some BS notion of Stan being a man and offering Peggy social and financial security, but literally being the person for Peggy she could be her total self with. Peggy could be a total badass HBIC with Stan and he was here for it. What could be sexier than that?

Some ideas…
• Give me a peek at what their lives looked like after they joined McCann Erickson--five, ten, fifteen years down the line.
• Peggy’s son gets in touch with her and she and Stan navigate all those tricky emotions together.
• What is it like for Peggy and Stan sharing a space after knowing each other so long? Who decorates? Who cooks?
• A Regency AU. :)
